Recap

Gus and Purrcival spend some time at the facility under Purrcivals Old Village learning what they can about the Lunatic that got loose and destroyed the village all those years ago. They had been monitoring it, and made a few attempts at capture, but none had succeeded so far. That said it had settled in an area in the forest and it was surmised it had a den there, but had not yet been confirmed. Finally, while no obvious weaknesses appeared in the notes, it had attempted to enter the city at one point and been deterred by a combination of the wall and soldiers with firearms.

This info gathered and a desire to meet up with the others and begin discussing next steps Gus and Purrcival returned to the Celestial Sips and rested the night. The next day, before the rest of the crew arrived Gus detected an Ice Cream truck outside and the two ended up chasing it around other parts of the city until Gus was able to acquire more ice cream than he could eat.

The rest of the Crew returned to the city after dropping off Pete who planned to sleep off the buzz from the Moonshine dose he’d received. When they entered they found Gus covered in ice cream, his hoard half melting as he offered some to Purrcival who stoically refused. Mostly reunited, the crew discussed their current situation, and while no one disagreed with helping Purrcival hunt down the Lunatic, they agreed that the more pressing matter was getting a Lunatic ASAP so they could see exactly what happened with Vaughan and the clinic.

The plan that forms is to head into the Industrial District, the one most riddled with humanoid Lunatics, and venture into the sewers there to hunt one. They’ll have Purrcival keep an eye on its location using a magical tracking ability and follow it once Vaughan has taken it in. A combination of their efforts hunting through the sewers and some trap laying leads to the group finding a trio of them and end up capturing the one that looks the farthest gone.

The Crew then drives across the city and takes the captured Lunatic into the sewers near where Pete had claimed to be attacked. While doing that the Crew was able to scout out that Vaughan was waiting near the sewer entry despite it having been hours. Gus set a trap to contain the Lunatic and Paul played bait by rattling the sewer entrance to attract Vaughan’s attention and then ran. Vaughan quickly followed, but Paul was able to keep ahead of him and lead him to the Lunatic. There Gus waited and watched as Vaughan knocked out the Lunatic and waited some time before dragging him to the surface after nightfall.

The Crew followed Vaughan at a distance returning to the clinic and while several hours passed, the Crew was patient and that patience paid off when a pair of goons dressed like mercenaries showed up and took the Lunatic off Vaughan’s hands. The Crew followed the truck and with Purrcival’s sure driving was able to go undetected for the duration.

The mercs lead the Crew to a warehouse in the Docks district that wasn’t too different from the one they had infiltrated with Project Syzygy. They carefully assessed and realized the back of the warehouse, which had a dock and was facing the water of the Lake, was not immediately protected. Even the fence which surrounded the property stopped at the edge of the water, allowing them to swing around it with some effort.

Paul and Velvet decided to keep watch from the outside, Velvet taking to the water and Paul hanging out near the fence. Meanwhile Rhys, Purrcival, and Gus all approached and assessed the rear of the building, using a plant Gus grew to look inside and reach the roof.

From these vantages they were able to assess the number of guards and watch the Lunatic get escorted to a covered area in the warehouse. They waited patiently until only 3 guards remained inside. They decided it was time to bring the other two in and try to handle the situation. Gus went to Paul and offered him a stone which could connect with the other and otherwise indicated it was go time with a mix of words which lacked concrete details. Paul, wanting to help, attempted to swing around the fence, and unfortunately it came loose sending him into the water below with a large splash.

Rhys and Purrcival seeing the opportunity for what it is wait for the 3 guards inside to go and investigate and as soon as they do head down into the Warehouse to start looking for information, Rhys locking the door behind the guards on the way.

Meanwhile Velvet sees Paul in a rough situation and grabs him and takes him under the surface while the guards begin to investigate. The pair move to another nearby dock and Velvet quietly deposits him while Gus distracts the guards by dropping a rock out in the water.

The chaos buys Rhys and Purrcival enough time to scour the place, find a ledger from Hal L. Apeeno with direct links to the leadership at Sable calling the shots and nab a couple of the control collars the mercs are using to keep the Lunatics under control.

Through the speaking stones the Crew coordinates their escape, and with practiced effort they return to the night streets leaving the guards behind and confused knowing only that there was a splash, a locked door, and an oddly large plant left behind.

With this info in tow will the Crew and the Army have enough ammo and evidence to deal with Sable? If so, will the Crew finally be able to return to something resembling a normal life? What does that even look like with the Army aware of them now? And how will the crew handle the Lunatic that Purrcival wants dead?
