Timeline

The modern global calendar uses The Shattering of Luna as a marking of a shift in eras. BTS is used for times Before The Shattering, while ATS is used for times After The Shattering. Much history from before The Shattering and during the decades following is lost or missing. Occasionally stories or artifacts are discovered from before then that help piece together the older histories.

• ??? BTS – The birth of life on the planet. The first single cellular life appears on the planet.
• ??? BTS – Humans are the only people. Complex life reaches the early human peoples.
• ??? BTS – The Celestials send their children to the planet. As Humans look to the stars, the stars look back.
• ??? BTS – The Celestialborn begin to exist. Human lines intermix with the Children of the Celestials.
• 0 ATS – The Shattering occurs. Impacts, storms, and magic will warp and ravage the planet for several decades.
• 47 ATS – Rebuilding begins. The fallout from The Shattering becomes calm enough that rebuilding and exploration can begin.
• 49 ATS – The earliest Lunatics are encountered. Records of magically twisted and powered beasts indicate they hampered rebuilding.
• 52 ATS – First recorded use of Moon Dust. People begin to experiment with using Moon Dust.
• 69 ATS – First Dustborn is discovered. In the wilds of a nation a tribe of Fauns are found with a chunk of Luna at the center of their village and culture.
• 77 ATS – Moonfall City is founded. The culmination of rebuilding efforts and the swelling Dust Rush lead to a new city being born in Usonia.
• 82 ATS – The Dust Rush begins. People begin to search for and mine Moon Dust in earnest.
• 87 ATS – The process to develop Moonshine is invented. Several alchemists seeking a way to harness Moon Dust stumble upon a purification process.
• 101 ATS – The first tech and science boom begins. Both because of and to compete with magic a technological boom sees advancements which help people.
• 119 ATS – Dustborn are recognized as citizens of most civilized nations. After a shocking 50 years the Dustborn tribes begin to integrate with and become part of modern society as it grows.
• 146 ATS – The first signs of Dust mines starting to dwindle. The most accessible deposits like that in Moonfall City are starting to become empty of significant Dust caches.
• 167 ATS – The second tech boom occurs. Nations invest heavily in technology as people realize that Moon Dust is a limited resource. Much of this is geared toward defense and war.
• 184 ATS – Almennia reveals New Moon to the world. In a stunning moment they open trade for Dust while other nations have begun hoarding it.
• 192 ATS – The Dust War begins. War breaks out after the assassination of the archduke of Almennia.
• 195 ATS – The Dust War ends. The truth of New Moon is revealed and people realize just what they’ve been fighting for.
• 196 ATS – Prohibition in Usonia begins. Advocate groups convince politicians to prohibit Moon Dust in all it’s forms.
• 197 ATS – The Celestial Sips Opens. Barnabas Moon and Jimmie Wood hire staff and Crew to run their speakeasy.
• 198 ATS – Present Day Our adventure begins.
