Description

By default, a Moonfall City Blues campaign takes place in and around Moonfall City. If your group or narrative ventures beyond those limits feel free to build the world outside the area together!

Moonfall City is one of the most prosperous cities in the nation of Usonia. Its claim to fame and its very name come from the fact that a significant amount of debris from the Shattering landed near it. Back then it was a small town, but it swiftly grew as operations to first collect and mine Moon Dust, and later process and distribute Moonshine became more and more common.

The city’s old name has been forgotten, and so has the old town that it grew from. These days the city is huge, spanning five districts that could each, themselves, be a small city. There is a wall around the outer edge of the city to keep out the Lunatics and other dangers of the wilds, but that wall is decorated and designed to be pleasing to the eye, just like (most of) the rest of the city.

In modern days, the city is struggling with the Prohibition. The deposits of Moon Dust have almost completely dried up and Lunatic hunting has become something of an illegal sport out in the wilds beyond the wall. Factories and businesses which used to focus on Moonshine have had to pivot to either criminal enterprises and cover up, or try to find new products or services to keep the money flowing.

Each district has a few names. One that is the official name from the government you’ll find on maps and in documents, another which is used by people on the street or in casual conversation, and one used the criminal element, that is more a descriptor than a real name.

Areas in and Around Moonfall City:

• The Industrial District – Factories, warehouses, and smoke stacks.
• The Entertainment District – Clubs, theaters, and restaurants.
• The Docks District – Docks, taverns, and fisheries.
• The Business District – Board rooms, lobbies, and offices.
• The Residential District – Homes, markets, and schools.
• The Wall – The barrier between the city and the wilds.
• Crater Lake – The massive lake formed from The Shattering.
• Prosperity Valley – The safest part of the wilds, and the main roads into the city.
• Shimmer Crags – A weathered mountain range, battered by The Shattering.
• Dust Woods – A once peaceful forest, polluted by The Industrial District.

Denizens

All manner of people live in and come to Moonfall City. It's still one of the biggest cities in Usonia, even with the crater empty of Dust and it's industry having to pivot thanks to Prohibition. Many just see that as a new opportunity to shake up the status quo.

History

Originally a small village which was blessed with a ton of growth when a significantly large chunk of Luna landed nearby, along with several smaller ones. While not the only place Dust made landfall, it might be the largest. That Dust let the city grow to the size it is today, but also increased the number of Lunatics and other magical threats around the area.
