Nicknames: The Stacks, as in smokestacks (Common); Smog Alley or Smog (Criminal)
This district is where all manufacturing and distribution moves through. Factories, support offices, and warehouses make up the majority of this district. Despite efforts to keep it clean the soot and smog get everywhere and the gilding and art of the buildings here gets covered and looks like tarnished gold, rather than the appealing clean lines in other districts.
The criminal element here shows up in the form of warehouses and old Moonshine factories that are still in use, though they all have fronts and hide what they can from the authorities, or bribe them to look the other way.
Denizens
Factory workers who can't afford to live anywhere else and business people who want to stay close to their investments live here. So do some of the poorer people in general. Some workers do commute, but those are usually shift bosses and managers who can afford to live else where. Few people who don't have to come here do so willingly.

History
The place started once people realized they could brew Dust into Shine. The process was smelly and possibly toxic, so those doing the processing moved away from the miner's camp that was doing the harvesting. As the industrial revolution hit, the process was scaled up and factories grew. As the Dust dried up those factories started pivoting to other purposes, and now none a left that make Shine since Prohibition started.
