Blood Vine

Blood Vine is a reddish colored carnivorous plant that while native to Usonia is not very common. It can and does photosynthesize and draw nourishment from whatever it takes root in, but it supplements that and is especially fond of the nutrition it can take from blood.

To get blood from it's prey it has a few unique adaptations. Firstly, it's spade-shaped leaves are nearly razor-sharp, resulting in any creature that ventures too close to risk getting cut and spilling some blood. The spilled blood will then be absorbed into the plant either through the leaves or roots.

Next, it's adapted the rudimentary senses plants possess to detect the warmth and smell of blood. This means it can tend to sense creatures containing its preferred nourishment, especially if they are wounded.

Finally, it's vines and leaf sprouts have a kind of hydraulic system, allowing it to use blood or other liquid it absorbs to move itself somewhat. This results in unaware and unsuspecting prey getting a little too close, only to be cut or even "grabbed" by the vines.

These adaptations make the plant hazardous, but not dangerous. Though people can die, from Blood Vine "attacks", it is not very common.

Though recently, Blood Vine containing the Dust of a Far Celestial has been noted by the Crew and the Usonian military. This "Lunatic" like Blood Vine seems to be able to use the hydraulic fluid adaptation to be able to take forms and shapes of humanoids and move around, though they still all perish if the core of the plant is destroyed.
